The sulfuric acid is copper sulfate pentahydrate: CuSO4 5H2O.
Alum is potassium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate: kal (SO4) 2. 12h2o.
Bile alum
Alias stone alum, blue alum, duckbill green bile alum.
The source is hydrated copper sulfate formed by oxidation and decomposition of copper sulfide ore or made artificially.
Chalcite: It is a kind of sulfuric acid ore with triclinic system or artificially hydrated copper sulfate. This is an irregular block crystal with different sizes, dark blue or light blue and slightly green. The crystal is glassy, translucent to transparent, easily weathered and fragile in the air, and the fragments are prismatic. The hardness is 2.5 and the specific gravity is 2.2.3. It is tasteless and tastes sour.
Sour, pungent and cold in nature; Toxic. Liver and gallbladder meridian.
Efficacy application
1, expectoration of wind phlegm and poison: used for wind phlegm and blood stasis, laryngitis, epilepsy, and ingestion of poison by mistake.
2. Detoxification and dampness removal: used for red rotten wind eyes, aphtha and dental diseases. A small amount should be used externally.
3, erosion and ulceration: used for swelling and pain. The external dosage of this product is slightly large, which has the effect of erosion and decay.
Dosage and usage: 0.0.6g orally, and warm soup orally. To induce vomiting, the maximum dose is 0.3g each time, and the limit is 1 time. Appropriate amount for external use, calcined and ground for final external use. If you wash your eyes, use 1000 times water solution.
Avoid taking it when using. This product is toxic and should not be taken in large quantities for a long time.
Alum, also known as alum, potassium alum, potassium aluminum alum and potassium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate, is a double salt of potassium sulfate and aluminum sulfate containing crystallization water. Chemical formula Kal (SO4) 2. 12H2O, molecular formula 474.39, colorless cubic, monoclinic or hexagonal crystal with glass luster and density of 1.757g/cm3. At 200℃, the crystal water of 12 molecule loses, but it is soluble in water and insoluble in ethanol. Alum is sour, cold and toxic, so it has antibacterial and astringent effects and can be used as medicine. Alum can also be used to prepare aluminum salt, baking powder, paint, tanning materials, clarifier, mordant, papermaking, waterproof agent and so on. People used to use alum to purify water.
KAl(SO4)2 = K+ + Al3+ + 2SO42-
While Al3+ is easily hydrolyzed to form colloidal aluminum hydroxide Al(OH)3:
Al3++3H2O = Al(OH)3 (colloid) +3H+
Aluminum hydroxide colloid has strong adsorption capacity, which can adsorb suspended impurities in water, form precipitation and clarify water. So alum is a better water purifying agent.
The component of copperas is ferrous sulfate crystals.
Also known as melanterite and copperas. What burns red is called crimson alum or alum red.
The smell is sour, cool and non-toxic. Ferrous sulfate (FESO4*7H2O), also known as copperas and ferrites, contains seven crystalline water molecules. It is a transparent light green crystal or powder, odorless, astringent and easily weathered in dry air.
