Thyroid crisis (thyroid crisis), also known as hyperthyroidism crisis, is a syndrome of acute exacerbation of thyrotoxicosis, the cause of which may be related to increased levels of circulating thyroid hormones. It occurs in patients with untreated or inadequately treated severe hyperthyroidism.

Common triggers include infection, surgery, mental stimulation, etc. Clinical manifestations include high fever, profuse sweating, tachycardia, irritability, anxiety, delirium, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and in severe cases, cardiac failure, shock and coma. Its diagnosis mainly relies on the comprehensive judgment of clinical manifestations. Clinically highly suspected of this disease and the precursors of critical illness should be treated according to this disease, and its death rate is more than 20%.
