1. Lychee is distributed in the southwest, south and southeast of China, and is most cultivated in Guangdong and southern Fujian. It is also cultivated in southeastern Asia, and introduction records have been recorded in Africa, America and Oceania. Lychees, bananas, pineapples, and longans are known as the “four major fruits of the South”.

2. Chinese lychees are mainly distributed in the range of 18-29 degrees north latitude. Guangdong is the most cultivated, followed by Fujian and Guangxi. Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou and Taiwan are also cultivated in small quantities. It is also cultivated in southeastern Asia, and introduction records have been recorded in Africa, America and Oceania.

3. In 2017, the lychee planting area in Guangdong Province was 4.11 million acres and the output was 1.31 million tons. Both area and output accounted for more than 50% of the country's total. Maoming currently has a lychee planting area of ??1.39 million acres and an output of 528,000 tons. The output accounts for two-fifths of Guangdong and a quarter of the country. It is the world's largest lychee production base.
