The Taiwan issue, because it concerns China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, is said to be the most important and sensitive issue in Sino-US relations. In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China (June 27, 1950), the U.S. Navy's Seventh Fleet moved into the Taiwan Strait to prevent the Chinese people from liberating Taiwan.

The United States took a series of containment actions in the early days of the founding of New China, as follows:

1. Politically, it practiced a policy of containment plus isolation;

2. Economically, it carried out an economic blockade and a trade embargo;

3. Militarily, it practiced armed invasion and military encirclement.
