Alfalfa sowing time
Alfalfa is a common name, commonly known as golden cauliflower, and is planted once a year. It is best to sow alfalfa in spring or autumn at around 25 degrees Celsius, so that it will germinate more easily. Generally, alfalfa is sown in February in spring and can be harvested in May in summer. The second crop is harvested in September in autumn, and another crop is harvested at the end of October
Alfalfa sowing method
1. Seed selection : Alfalfa can germinate well only with high-quality seeds. If there are many impurities in the seeds, simple selection is required. 2. Treatment: Alfalfa seeds need to be cleaned before planting, and some herbicides and chemical fertilizers are used for seed dressing to prevent seedling diseases and insect pests. And it can appropriately increase the germination rate. 3. Sowing: When sowing alfalfa, there must be a certain distance between the seeds and not too close. Drill sowing can be used, but the sowing depth should be shallower, about 0.5-1cm. If it is too deep, it will not germinate easily.
Key points for alfalfa planting
Fertilization: Alfalfa has deep roots and needs to be plowed before sowing. Farmyard manure and calcium phosphate can be applied deeply, combined with land preparation and ridging, to facilitate field watering and seedling emergence after sowing. Pests and diseases: Alfalfa should be cultivated and weeded to prevent downy mildew, leaf spot, root rot, cotton bollworm and underground pests. It can be controlled with chlorothalonil, mancozeb and metoclopramide.
