One is chalazion, or blepharitis. The second is chalazion, which is a cyst of the blepharoplasty. The third is other causes of eyelid masses, such as: cavernous hemangioma of the eyelid, lipoma, chalk tumor or eyelid tuberculosis.
What is worth to be alerted is blepharoplastic adenocarcinoma. It is a malignant tumor originated from the eyelid gland, mostly seen in women over 40 years old. Early manifestation is a painless lump in the eyelid gland, which is not adhered to the skin and resembles a chalazion, and when the lump becomes bigger, yellow nodules can be seen on the surface of the lid conjunctiva or under the skin, and the surface is uneven when touched. In the late stage, the cancer tissue breaks down and systemic metastasis occurs, which is life-threatening.
The prognosis of chalazion adenocarcinoma is the poorest when the lump grows in the eyelid, which is most common in granuloma and chalazion. Therefore, when there is a lump in the eyelid, the cause should be clarified as soon as possible and treated in time, especially the elderly patients should be more alert to the possibility of adenocarcinoma of the eyelid.
