Every spring, people always pick the buds at the end of branches and taste the delicious Toona sinensis. However, the picking time of Toona sinensis buds is short, and there is a folk saying that "before Grain Rain ate buds, after Grain Rain ate wood residue". After the season, it is difficult to eat sweet Toona sinensis buds again.
Historically, vegetable farmers in Beijing suburbs dug 1 ~ 2-year-old Toona sinensis seedlings in Mentougou mountain area in late autumn, planted them in greenhouses and germinated in winter. This production method is extremely low in output and can only be appreciated by a few people.
In 1980s, vegetable farmers in Shandong took the lead in sowing Toona sinensis with seeds, cultivating annual seedlings and storing Toona sinensis in sunlight greenhouse. This production technology has greatly promoted the production of Toona sinensis, enabling consumers to taste Toona sinensis before and after the Spring Festival. According to the definition and classification standard of sprout, this kind of Toona sinensis picked from trees or branches is called body sprout, which is called Toona sinensis with tree buds.
Even after planting Toona sinensis in storage, Toona sinensis with tree buds cannot be guaranteed to be supplied all year round. Toona sinensis with bud is a new product introduced by Institute of Vegetables and Flowers, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences 1993. Because it is a tender bud from the seed of Toona sinensis, it is named Toona sinensis with seed bud.
Toona sinensis with seed buds and Toona sinensis with tree buds are different in morphology and production methods. Seed bud The seeds of Toona sinensis germinate and form radicle, hypocotyl and cotyledon successively. When the hypocotyl is 7 ~ 8 cm long and the cotyledons are flat, the product harvesting standard is reached.
Toona sinensis with seed buds is tender, smooth and fragrant, and its taste and taste are better than those with tree buds. The growth cycle of Toona sinensis with seed buds is generally 15 ~ 20 days, which is short and can be produced all year round to ensure annual supply. Toona sinensis with seed buds is cultivated in soilless paper bed, which is very convenient for industrial production. In production, only the nutrients stored in seeds are used for the growth of sprouts, and no pesticides and fertilizers are applied, so the products are pollution-free.
Toona sinensis with seed buds is basically the same as Toona sinensis with tree buds, except that Toona sinensis with tree buds has large leaves and can be made into delicious Toona sinensis fish. Toona sinensis with seed buds is tender, and the dish made by Toona sinensis fish can be called Toona sinensis shrimp.
