1. Lettuce is sown in spring and autumn. In spring, seeds are usually sown in February-April and harvested in May-June. Autumn can be sown at the end of August and harvested in September-10.
2. Sow improved varieties and choose varieties with strong disease resistance and strong growth. At present, there are three popular varieties on the market: mosaic lettuce, glass lettuce and bulbous lettuce, which can be planted at will.
3. Prepare the seedbed. Lettuce seedlings should be cultivated in sandy loam with good water and fertilizer. Soil preparation for seedbed: 10 square meter seedbed is made of decomposed organic fertilizer 10 kg, 0.3 kg of ammonium sulfate, 0.5 kg of calcium superphosphate and 0.2 kg of potassium sulfate, which are fully and evenly mixed, leveled and raked, filled with water, and sowed after seepage.
Growth habit of lettuce
Lettuce likes cold environment, neither cold nor heat. The suitable growth temperature is 15 ~ 20℃ and the growth period is 90 ~ 100 days. Seeds can tolerate low temperature and germinate at 4℃. The optimum temperature for germination is 18 ~ 22℃, and almost no germination occurs above 30℃. In the growing period, it likes cold climate, and the temperature of 15 ~ 20℃ is most suitable for growth, with high yield and excellent quality. The growth above 25℃ is poor, but the cold tolerance is also quite strong, even if the temperature is below zero for a short time at 0℃, there is no big obstacle to the growth.
The root system is developed, the leaves are waxy and the drought resistance is quite strong. But planting in fertile and humid soil has high yield and good quality, and the suitable soil pH value is 5.8 ~ 6.6. In recent 10 years, the planting area of lettuce has gradually increased in some big cities and some coastal open cities, and then several cities in the mainland introduced trial planting, which was welcomed by consumers.
