I have read many so-called introductory POP tutorials on the Internet and found that most of them are from the perspective of design. In fact, the real first step of POP is to use tags. Don't underestimate this. The use of markers is very different from the pencils, pens and markers we used when we were young.

After a long period of exploration and summary, Mr. A Xiang roughly divided the main connection modes of hand-painted POP strokes into seven types, namely, right-angle transition, rounded transition, crescent connection, large arc connection, horizontal thin vertical thick connection, V-shaped folding connection and zigzag connection.

Right-angle transition connection

Right-angle joint with two strokes, vertical and horizontal, whole inside and outside. Note that the intersection of each stroke is about 2/3 ~ 3/3 of the width of the stroke, and the strokes should not be prominent or missing.

Fillet joint

The circular seam adopts two strokes: horizontal thin vertical thick and horizontal thick vertical thin, and the whole inner side is cylindrical. Note that starting from the second stroke, each stroke is at the outer edge of the intersecting strokes, and the strokes should not stand out or be omitted.

Crescent connection

Write Arabic numeral "0". When writing the second stroke, pay attention to the starting point of the connection in the middle of the connecting stroke, and the stroke state is larger in the middle of the two pen tips. This writing method is generally written with a 6mm marker.

Large arc connection

Write the Arabic numeral "0" in a big arc, and pay attention to the starting point of the second stroke in Lian Bi. The stroke state is the middle of the two prompts.

Horizontal thin vertical thick connection

Also wrote the number "0". Pay attention to the starting position of the connection when writing the second stroke, which is the key to the connection of strokes.

V-fold connection

The key is to note that the position of the second pen is aligned with the lower left of the first pen.

It is important to note that the writing direction of the second pen is from bottom to top.

POP digital writing

There are many types of POP numbers, such as horizontal thin vertical thick number, standard number (also called supermarket number), cartoon number and hollow number. Considering the practicality, this paper mainly introduces the number of horizontal thin vertical thick and the standard number.

The second stroke of the number "0" should be in the first stroke, which can make the first stroke look more rounded. The same numbers "2, 3, 6, 8, 9" are connected in a similar way.

When writing the number "1", it is mainly written obliquely on the left, and the pen should be parallel to the pen. In view of the traditional writing habits, many times we write in a slightly left-leaning way.

The pen receiving position of the number "2" should be flush with the outside of the upper arc to ensure the overall shape is rectangular.

When writing the second stroke of the number "3", pay attention to the lower end of the first stroke, which looks neat.

The second stroke of the number "4" should be flush with the first stroke, and the written head should not be too long.

The top horizontal line of the number "5" is usually written at the end, and the second stroke needs to overlap with some strokes of the first stroke, which can make the strokes more rounded. The collection method of strokes is the same as the number "3".

The beginning of the last stroke of the number "6" is the key to writing well, and it needs to start from the inside of the first stroke, so that the transition can make the strokes more rounded.

When writing the last stroke of the number "7", it just presses on the central axis of the whole word, making the number 7 feel very stable.

The second stroke of the number "8" can be connected to the lower half, which can reduce the number of strokes. And it can make the strokes of the upper and lower "0" more rounded.

The collection method of the second pen with the number "9" refers to the number "3", and the starting position of the third pen is above the middle of the second pen. This can make the strokes more natural.

6mm, 12mm, 20mm, 30mm and other specifications of POP pens can be used to write numbers with fine horizontal and thick vertical. The characteristic of this kind of digital writing is that the whole writing process adopts a vertical pen-holding posture, and only the arm does not move the wrist during the pen-holding process. The figures form a rectangle outside, and the combination of thick and thin lines is smart and solemn, which is mainly used for the display of time figures and high-end products.
