According to legend, Qinyuan is the garden of Princess Qinshui, the daughter of Emperor Hanming in East China. Later, it was seized by Dou Xian, a consort, and some people wrote poems for it, thus obtaining the inscription of "Qinyuanchun".

Herry Liu, the fifth daughter of Emperor Liu Zhuang of the Eastern Han Dynasty, built a garden in Qinshui County, a fief, which was called "Qinshui Princess Garden" in history. Dou Xian, the general, relied on his sister, Empress Dou, to seize Qinyuan at a low price. The princess was afraid and dared not care.

Later, Emperor Zhang learned about it and wanted to punish Dou Xian. Dou Xian quit Qinyuan, and shall not be reused from now on. Later generations generally call the princess's garden? "Qinyuan"? . Later generations wrote poems and chanted them, hence the name "Qinyuanchun".
