First, the size of the bookshelf
The size of a general book depends on the size of the paper format. In addition to format, there are special-shaped format, besides general books and periodicals, there are thread-bound books and imported original books. In addition to the height and depth of the bookcase, it should also be adapted to the size of all kinds of books, and its height and structural bonding strength should be considered according to the size of human movements.
1. Shelf height
The height of bookshelves varies according to the users of bookshelves.
▲ Optimum partition height suitable for adults (unit: mm)
▲ Optimum partition height suitable for teenagers (unit: mm)
▲ Optimum partition height suitable for children (unit: mm)
2. Bookshelf width
In terms of width, the overall width of the bookcase is affected by many factors, such as the storage capacity of books, the overall shape of the bookcase, the material of the bookcase, the indoor layout space and so on. The width of the bookcase is generally between 800 mm and 1200 mm;
3. Shelf depth
The bookcase is 300mm deep, which wastes space and is inconvenient to take. According to the upper limit of books, there should be a gap of 20mm-30mm in the height of mezzanine, which is convenient for taking books and ventilation. The national standard stipulates that the height of the partition is not less than 220mm, and less than this size, 32 folio books cannot be placed. If there are books with the same size as magazines and periodicals, the height of the partition layer is 300 mm-350 mm
4. Partition spacing
Generally speaking, the maximum height of bookcase partition is not more than 1800mm, which is too high for us to hold and put books.
2. Bookshelf form
1. Closed
Closed refers to the form of completely hiding the stored items, which is suitable for people who have precious books at home. Lazy cancer patients strongly recommend this kind of bookshelf. Bookshelves with doors keep out a lot of dust for you. Who knows!
Step 2 make it public
Books are completely exposed, have the function of display, and are suitable for people who often read and clean.
3. Integrated type
The combination of opening and closing combines the advantages of both. If it focuses on collection, it is suitable to bring more space into the closed part, otherwise it is more important to keep a smaller part as closed storage than display. No matter which form is adopted, we should pay attention to the proportion and order of the whole, so as to achieve the most suitable collocation relationship of closed and open.
3. The form of family bookshelves
1. Wall-mounted bookshelf
Wall-mounted bookshelves use tools to fix wooden bookshelves or bookshelves on the wall.
Hanging bookshelves on the wall not only saves space, but also costs less than finished bookshelves. This method can be used if there are not many books at home and the space is small.
Because the bearing capacity of the wall is different, it is not recommended to install it on a non-solid wall.
In addition to storing books, you can also place some small ornaments.
2. Customize the bookcase as a whole
① Wall-mounted bookshelf
The bookshelf is embedded in the recessed wall, and there is no need to install a back plate behind the bookshelf.
This method is highly recommended for units with small area and insufficient storage space.
② External custom bookshelves
Families with a large collection of books can choose to customize a large bookshelf with a wall. The depth of the bookshelf is 300mm and the height is 2200 mm, and the width of the bookshelf depends on the size of the wall. There are not many books, so you can buy a small independent bookshelf directly without customization. The height of the bookshelf is the maximum height that your fingertips can reach, that is, the height × 1.2.
3. Low cabinet
If you don't like indomitable bookshelves, feel too depressed and don't have so many books, you can easily create a reading area with a small cupboard and a chair.
A small number of books are collected in low cabinets, and a dining table is added. The dining area is parallel to reading. The biggest advantage of this form of bookshelf is that it can be used for two purposes.
Combined bookshelf
Bookshelves are combined with other forms of furniture to save space and increase storage space.
The embedded bookshelf is combined with tatami.
Another form of combination of bookshelf and tatami.
The bookshelf desk is connected with tatami, which is convenient for reading and has a large storage space.
The large-capacity bookshelf separates a little space as a card holder, and the rest space is used to store books and articles, which makes better use of the space than the form of separating the dining area from the reading area.
4. Shelf placement
1. Living room
Putting bookshelves in the living room is a common method. The living room is the center of our daily activities, and most of our behaviors and habits take place in the living room. When we want to read a book, we don't have to go to the study specially, just take the book we want to read (it is best to put a reading light next to the sofa).
For units without study, it is also common to plan the office area directly in the living room.
balcony
The designer designed the owner's balcony as a leisure area, and the whole wall was embedded with custom bookshelves. Reading in the sun is a kind of happiness. However, it is best for southern families not to put bookshelves on the balcony, because it is humid in the south, especially when the balcony is in direct contact with the outside world, which will make books damp.
kitchen
This form is discouraged for families who often cook, and cigarette oil will destroy books. If you just cook some western food, you can also take this form, quietly drinking coffee and reading books.
4. Study room
The most natural thing about bookcases in the study is not to be said here.
5. Bookshelf materials
1. Solid wood bookshelf
Beech, teak, maple, oak, oak, manchurian ash, elm, poplar and pine can all be used as solid wood bookshelves, which are load-bearing walls with good decorative effect and natural texture of wood. Using solid wood grid, the limit width should not exceed1000 mm.
2. Wood-based panel bookshelf
Wood-based panel bookshelves generally use 18mm thick particleboard or density board, the grid width is 350 mm-800 mm, and the limit width cannot exceed 800 mm (the limit width of 25 mm thick board is 900mm). Density board is an artificial board made of wood fiber or other plant fiber, which is crushed, separated, dried, coated with urea-formaldehyde resin or other suitable adhesive, and then hot pressed. When cutting the edge, the MDF will be sealed well, not easy to open, and can be pressed into various shapes. However, founder cabinets generally do not recommend MDF materials, and the strength is low.
▲ Medium density fiberboard
Particleboard is an artificial board made of wood or other lignocellulosic materials, coated with adhesive and glued under the action of heat and pressure. Particleboard has good moisture resistance and high strength. But particleboard is not as flat as density board, so it can't be bent and formed. The bending and tensile properties of particleboard are poor, and the bending properties can be improved by increasing the thickness of particleboard.

3. Metal bookcase
The metal bookcase has a good sense of lines, so it gives people an open space experience and high strength.
