Guangyuan daughter's day

Popular in Guangyuan area. According to legend, Wu Zetian's mother met the black dragon while swimming in Guangyuan in the Tang Dynasty and got pregnant on the 23rd day of the first month in Hiuke. Therefore, in the old society, people regarded this day as the meeting of Wu Zetian. On this day, people flocked to Huangze Temple, Zetianba and Jialing River. The women dressed up and invited each other to swim along the river bend for good luck. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), this activity was interrupted. 1988, Guangyuan municipal government decided to resume this folk festival and named it "Daughter's Day", and set the date of the festival as 1 day in September of Gregorian calendar. It attracts a large number of international and domestic tourists and businessmen from Japan, Southeast Asia and other places.

Legend of Daughter's Day

During the Wude period of the Tang Dynasty (AD 624), on Duanyang Festival, an official boat rowed here in Lizhou (now Guangyuan, Sichuan), an important town in northern Sichuan, at a place called Jiangtan by the Jialing River outside the city. The orchestral strings on board are melodious, and the songs and dances are light and graceful. Suddenly, the sky was overcast and the river was choppy. I saw a flash of lightning, and suddenly a golden dragon rose from the middle of the river. After dancing wildly in the sky, Jinlong jumped straight at the official ship, and suddenly he was stunned by Mrs. Yang, the governor of Lizhou, who was sitting on the ship. When the beautiful lady woke up, the wind had stopped, the waves had calmed down and the dark clouds in the sky had disappeared. Only the bright sunshine shines warmly on the clear river. Paddling leisurely, the sun is shining, everything is so quiet and peaceful, as if nothing had happened just now. The governor's wife got pregnant soon after she returned, and later gave birth to a baby girl. Later, the baby girl grew up, and after a long period of suffering, she became the only female emperor in the long history of China. She was an outstanding female politician in China feudal society, and Wu Zetian, the "Golden Wheel Saint Emperor" of the Zhou Dynasty, who ruled the world on behalf of the Tang Dynasty.

In the Tang Dynasty, in order to commemorate this outstanding woman who was born here, the local people built a sacrificial temple "Huang Zean" on the Wulong Mountain Scenic Resort, next to Yang's "Lizhou River Beach", and the rippling river beach was also called "Golden Wheel Pregnant Heart". Every year, on Wu Zetian's birthday, a grand celebration will be held. "On the 23rd day of the first month, women swim in the bend of the river." Women from all over the city will come out in gorgeous costumes and gather on both sides of the Jialing River. They moved the boat to the river beach, singing and dancing, hoping that the golden dragon would reappear, get pregnant again and give birth to more heroines that would make women all over the world proud. This custom continues to this day, and every September 1 day is a colorful and fascinating "Guangyuan Daughter's Day".
