Do lamas who live in the Han nationality eat meat? Can I eat meat if I study Tantric Buddhism?
It's nonsense to say that you can eat meat by studying Tantric Buddhism. Only Tibetan lamas eat meat. Because of the limited environment in Tibet, there is basically no vegetarian food. If they go to the Han nationality, they won't eat so much meat as they did in Tibet. And the tantric disciples of the Han Dynasty, if they used to be vegetarian, would eat meat instead of learning tantric, that's an idiot! The sculptor reprimanded such people more than sixty years ago. Learning Tantric Buddhism means learning their Buddhism, not asking you to learn to eat meat! In Hinayana area, three golden meats are allowed. But in Mahayana's view, meat should not be eaten. So we should persuade people not to eat meat. If you say "you can eat three golden meats", then you are conniving at killing, you know! We can't decide whether others can be vegetarian, but don't say that the Buddha promised to eat meat, which makes people mistakenly think that they can eat it. If anyone still holds this view, please read Mahayana classics such as Shurangama Sutra and Brahma Sutra to see what the Buddha said about eating meat!
