Chengde has the world's largest royal garden, wooden Buddha and shortest river. In Chengde, there are many things that are the best in the world. This is a place worth visiting. Use your eyes to discover the beauty of Chengde and feel it.
Every summer I go out for a walk and appreciate the great rivers and mountains of my motherland. The year before last, I went to Zhangjiajie and Xiangxi to appreciate the majesty of Xiangdi’s mountains and rivers, the horror of the glass plank road and the simplicity and purity of Xiangxi; last year, I saw Qinghai Lake, Chaka Salt Lake, Dunhuang, and Zhangye along the Hexi Corridor; but this year, because I have to go to an enterprise for internship I don’t have a lot of time to waste on my mission, so I can only find a place closer to take a look. Therefore, this year’s summer trip is scheduled to be in Chengde, which is more than 200 kilometers away from the capital. Following in the footsteps of the emperor, we will visit the Qing Dynasty’s summer palace, the Summer Resort and the Eight Outer Temples. Itinerary planning
DAY1: Arrival in the evening
DAY2: Summer Resort, Puning Temple, Heyday Dynasty·Kangxi Ceremony
DAY3: Putuo Zongcheng Temple, Xumi Tips for the Temple of Fushou and Nanyingzi Street
Appropriate clothes (very important, the temperature difference between morning and evening is huge in Chengde Mountain area, especially when watching the performance of Heyday Dynasty at night, it is very cold), ID card, ID card, ID card!! Important things to say three times! Bank cards, mobile phones, and a small amount of cash.
Accommodation: The most important thing when a student party goes out is the experience (pian) (yi), so I always prefer youth hostels when traveling abroad. This time I booked a youth hostel for 40 yuan per bed. A standard room in an express hotel costs 300 to 400 yuan anywhere, which is not something that students like us can afford.
Food: Don’t go to big restaurants (chi), but (bu) (qi), only look for local snacks. I recommend a few good ones: Xinghao Meet You (the first recommendation is almond products); Lao Ding Yang Tang (the first recommendation is mutton soup pancakes); Halal Huihui (the first recommendation is braised chicken slices with cabbage); and scissor noodles. Summer Resort
I walked out of the youth hostel early in the morning and went straight to the popular restaurant "Xinghao Meet You" for breakfast. Then, as a netizen said, I bought a discount for the Hengsheng Dynasty show in the evening. Tickets, use the audio guide they made to tour the mountain resort.
It has to be said that the Mountain Resort has a false reputation and does not provide any relief from the heat. After ten o'clock in the morning, people exposed to the sun will be sweating. People with poor physical strength will really suffer from heatstroke. They feel at least three With the high temperature of 18 or 19 degrees, I really want to ask Emperor Kangxi: Are you kidding us?
Compared with the Forbidden City, the palace area where the emperor handles government affairs seems very simple and has no royal style at all. But its back garden is extremely large. The 10 imperial gardens of the Forbidden City combined are probably not as big as a forest in the Summer Resort. It shows that the emperor is here more to enjoy the beautiful mountains and forests.
The two emperors Kangxi and Qianlong mentioned 36 scenes in their summer resort respectively. Kangxi’s 36 scenes were mentioned in four words, and Qianlong’s 36 scenes were mentioned in three words. Collectively, they are called the 72 Scenes of Kangxi and Qianlong, but the scenery during the glorious period of the Summer Resort is far more than these 72 scenes. Unfortunately, most of these scenery were destroyed in those turbulent years, and there are very few left.
The Summer Resort and the Eight Outer Temples are very close to each other. From the map, there are a total of 12 temples in the Outer Eight Temples surrounding the Summer Resort from east to north. However, many travel notes have mentioned that among the Eight Outer Temples currently open to the public, only the Puning Temple, Putuo Zongcheng Temple (Little Potala Palace), and Xumi Fushou Temple (Pancheng Palace) are really worth visiting. The others are either destroyed, or there is nothing left that is not worth seeing. Therefore, I only chose to go to these three temples. To be honest, going to temples is really a torture for people like me who are not interested in Buddhism at all. Fortunately, the temples in Chengde have beautiful scenery, and the photos are still beautiful. It's worth remembering.
Puning Temple among the Eight Outer Temples: Puning Temple
Puning Temple is the only royal temple among the Eight Outer Temples that still has incense. There are many lamas wearing Tibetan robes inside. There are many people selling incense at the entrance and inside of the scenic spot, but we did not offer incense because we really have no faith, but in the end we couldn’t help but donate 10 yuan to the merit incense to bless our family’s safety. I have to say that Puning Temple The Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara inside really shocked me. It’s huge, huge, huge, huge! Unfortunately, the temple does not allow you to take photos of the Buddha statue, and even if you take a photo, it can’t show how big it is. If you want to know the details, you have to wait until you see it in person Come and see.
A grand performance: The Heyday of the Kangxi Dynasty
In the city of Chengde, it seems that everything is connected with the Qing emperor, and the scenic spots were all built by the emperor. The food must be said to be eaten by the emperor, and the performance in the evening also depicts the legendary life of Emperor Kangxi. I was thinking that if Emperor Kangxi had not built a summer resort here, the city of Chengde might not have existed.
Originally, I had no plans to go to the performance, because the ticket price of more than 100 yuan was quite painful for us student party members. But there really isn’t much place to go in Chengde at night. After I arrived here on the first night, I asked the owner of the youth hostel. It seemed that there really wasn’t much nightlife except strolling along the river. Plus, from where I met you in Xinghao The tickets I booked were indeed much cheaper, so I went there. Facts have proved that a performance is quite worth it. At least the hard conditions such as the number of lighting and stage actors will make you feel that the money is worth spending and it is not a scam. Buy and sell.
The Little Potala Panchen Palace
Putuo Zongcheng Temple is the official name of the Little Potala Palace. Because it was built after the Potala Palace in Tibet, people call it "Little Potala Palace". Dara Palace". I guess that Emperor Qianlong had never been to Tibet or seen the Potala Palace with his own eyes. But many people must have described to him how majestic and majestic the Potala Palace was. The description made Qianlong very excited, but he couldn't really go there, so he ordered someone to build a replica of it in Chengde. Being an emperor is like this. You can build a similar place with all the good things in the world around you. With imperial power, you can control the whole world without leaving home. The Temple of Xumi Fushou
The Temple of Xumi Fushou is the last royal temple built among the eight outer temples. The completion of this temple coincided with the 70th birthday of Emperor Qianlong. The Sixth Panchen Lama, who was far away in Tibet, took the initiative to apply to celebrate Qianlong's birthday. Emperor Qianlong was so pleased that he ordered the construction of this Panchen Palace. If the Panchen Lama hadn't taken the initiative to come to see him, I'm afraid there wouldn't be this Temple of Sumeru, Fortune and Longevity. However, sadly, the Sixth Panchen Lama also passed away due to smallpox during this trip. I think neither he nor Emperor Qianlong nor the Tibetan monks thought that his death would last forever. Food
To be honest, there are not many delicious snacks in Chengde. We only relied on reviews and guides to find them. We didn’t go to any big restaurants. I’ve been to a lot of snack bars, and here are a few that I’d like to recommend.
1. Apricot Meet You
This store mainly sells almond products. Many netizens have recommended it and the ranking in the reviews is also good, but there are not many things to eat. , almond tea is indeed worthy of praise. Mainly because of their good service, they are very patient in introducing you to this and that, and they can also help you book discount tickets. Overall, it’s four and a half stars.
2. Laosan Mutton Soup
I saw several mutton soup restaurants in Chengde, all of which made mutton soup. I originally wanted to go to Laoding, which is very popular on the Internet. , but when I went to the Little Potala Palace, I happened to see Lao San Sheep Soup on the roadside, so I got out of the car and went to eat it. The taste is okay, there's no bad smell. I don't know how other stores taste, but I guess it shouldn't be much different. Recommendation index 4 stars.
3. Halal Huihui
Looking for this restaurant is exhausting. It was recommended by a local who said it was a restaurant run by the Hui people and made halal dishes. It's so good. It took me a long time to find it. There were so many people there at noon. It seems to be really popular. I ordered their signature dish "Braised Chicken Slices with Cabbage", which is actually sweet and sour chicken slices. I don't know why it is so popular, but the price is very good. My friend and I spent a total of 25 yuan. Just for lunch, maybe the low price is the core of its popularity. The recommendation index is 4 stars.
4. Scissor Noodles
I found this one after reading the reviews. It is noodles cooked in a copper pot with alcohol. This is probably because the noodles are cut with scissors. It's called Scissor Noodles, which is a pretty rude name. There was a discount in the reviews. Two people ordered a medium pot for 24.8 yuan. The food was not bad and the taste was great. The only drawback was that there was too much oil. The recommendation index is four and a half stars.
In addition to the Eight Temples outside the Summer Resort, Chengde City also has some mountain and small temple attractions, but the online reviews were not very good, so we did not try them.
To be honest, if you come to Chengde to escape the summer heat, it is really not a good choice. At least it has been extremely hot these few days since we came here. If you really want to escape the summer heat, you have to continue walking north to the dam. Only in the grassland can you get a bit of coolness, but due to the limited time this time and the fact that we have been to Bashang once before, we do not plan to go to the grassland this time.
A piece of advice for tourists who are planning to go to Chengde: Chengde is a small urban area with concentrated attractions, so two days are enough for you. If you want to escape the summer heat and have more than three days to play, it is recommended to spend one day to visit the summer resort and watch the peak performance, and spend the rest of the time on the grassland.
One more suggestion for all students, use the summer vacation to go to more places to have fun. If you don’t use the previous summer vacation, you will have lingering fears because of internships and job hunting, and you won’t have fun. .
