? Interviewee: Alyssa, graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
? Me: I heard that the holidays in Canadian universities are very long. Can you tell me what holidays you have?
? Arisha: OK! There are winter and summer vacations every year, just like our domestic universities. But the winter vacation usually lasts from mid-February to the beginning of 10, which is Christmas, and the time is not long. Summer vacation is quite long, usually from mid-May to the end of August, almost four months. We also have spring break, usually in March, which lasts 3-5 days. Students studying in Canada have a more comfortable life among international students!
? Me: So what did you do during the holiday? Teaching some experience can be used for reference by students who are going to Canada.
? Arisha: Some universities offer summer courses for some majors. If your major has summer courses, you can take these courses in the summer vacation and get credits, which may shorten your graduation time. Generally, those who do this are China students who are famous for their diligence. I have a classmate who spent the whole holiday in the library. The most shocking thing is that he sleeps in the library. Do you know that university dormitories in Canada are usually closed during the summer vacation? If you apply for summer courses, the university will organize these students and arrange them in a dormitory. But my classmate wanted to save money in order to take credits, so he took charge of the library. He studies until midnight, and when he is sleepy, he sleeps on his desk. Anyway, the library environment is very good, warm in winter and cool in summer. But it must be a bad rest. But there are many things to grind. It took him only three years to complete his undergraduate course, and now he has studied in our school and won many scholarships. He told me that his study in Canada has hardly cost his parents money these years. In this way, he became an example for me to learn. Whenever I think of him, I feel that the difficulties in front of me are nothing at all, just like the old saying: the sword grinds fast, and the plum blossom is bitter.
? In addition, some students use their holidays to study a practical technical course or business English in community colleges or language schools to prepare for successful immigration in the future. Some of my classmates are majoring in cooking and computer application technology, both of which are easy to find jobs. As the saying goes: skills will not drag you down!
? Me: Thank you Alyssa for sharing these valuable experiences with us. Through interviewing her, I realized that the holiday is long, but the students still have a lot to do. What did Arisha say? The edge of the sword comes from sharpening, and the fragrance of plum blossoms comes from bitter cold? It also touched me deeply. In fact, whether studying at home or abroad, it takes effort and sweat to learn more knowledge and skills. I firmly believe that sweat and hard work will eventually water beautiful flowers. I wish you all a happy life abroad!
