Eating glutinous rice balls on the solstice in winter is a traditional custom in Guizhou. There is a folk saying that "eating glutinous rice balls is one year older". Tangyuan can be used to worship ancestors, give gifts to relatives and friends, and represent reunion.
2.wonton
One of the winter solstice customs is to eat wonton, which was first popular in the Southern Song Dynasty. According to records, at that time, in order to sacrifice ancestors, people would eat wonton on the winter solstice. Later, it gradually became popular, and the folks had the saying "winter solstice wonton and summer solstice noodles". Now, eating wonton has become a traditional custom in all parts of China, which is deeply loved by people, including Guizhou.
3. Beef and mutton
In many places in Guizhou, whether Miao or Han, more people choose to eat beef, mutton and various nourishing foods to warm their bodies on the solstice in winter, hoping for a good omen in the coming year.
4.bacon
Before "Xiaoxue", "Winter Solstice Day" and "beginning of spring", there was a traditional custom of making bacon in Guizhou minority areas. In the past, there was no refrigerator to store food, so ethnic minorities far away from the market chose fresh pork and cut it into pieces to make bacon, so as to ensure that there was meat to eat during the holidays and entertain guests. Tujia people also pickle bacon in winter to welcome the New Year.
5, glutinous rice liqueur
Glutinous rice sweet wine is brewed with glutinous rice as the main raw material, which is rich in nutrition, golden in color and sweet in taste, and suitable for all ages. Miao compatriots often brew rice wine, which is used to receive distinguished guests at important festivals and create a festive atmosphere.
