The Development Course of Mango Hometown
As the first mango town in China, Tian Yang District, since the early 1990s, mango production in Tian Yang has formed a scale, with planting area of130,000 mu, annual output of 32,000 tons and annual output value of 51200,000 yuan.
In the mid-1990s, due to the aging of fruits and extensive management of orchards, no attention was paid to fertilization, pruning and pest control. The price of mangoes plummeted, and many people were too lazy to care for mangoes, even destroying orchards and replanting other crops. Mango production was once in a downturn.
In order to make mango a pillar industry bigger and stronger, in recent years, Tian Yang District has fully implemented the "excellent fruit" project, focusing on mango variety improvement, technology introduction and capital investment.
