Haidian District is subordinate to Beijing Municipality, located in the western and northwestern part of the Beijing urban area, neighboring Xicheng District and Chaoyang District in the east, adjoining Fengtai District in the south, bordering Shijingshan District and Mentougou District in the west, and bordering Changping District in the north.
Haidian District is located in the northern fringe of the North China Plain, a part of the ancient Yongding River alluvial deposits, and mountainous plains, the terrain is high in the west and low in the east.
The highest peak in Haidian District is the Yangtai Mountain in the town of Sujiatuo, with an elevation of 1,278 meters, and the lowest place is the Heiquan Village in the east of Qinghe Street, with an elevation of about 35 meters.
