What new strategies does South Korea use to attract Chinese tourists and stimulate tourism development?

South Korea's "Asia Economy" quoted news from the Busan City Government on the 29th that in order to attract Chinese tourists to South Korea for medical tourism and promote the development of shops and traditional markets, the city government signed a contract with Alipay, China's largest online payment service provider. Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Through this memorandum of understanding, major business districts, tourist attractions and transportation in Busan will be equipped with the Alipay settlement system. At the same time, Busan and Alipay will also hold exchange activities to share technology and experience in the field of technology and finance.

Alipay has 520 million users in China, and scanning QR codes is its main payment method. In 2015, Alipay was widely promoted in South Korea, and its first overseas customer service center was established in Seoul in November of the following year. Currently, Alipay settlement services are basically covered in the Myeongdong business district in Seoul.

The Busan City Government will hold promotion meetings for owners of traditional markets, major business districts, medical institutions and scenic spots in the near future to promote the promotion and popularization of Alipay in the local area. The Busan City Government predicts that it will use Alipay as an opportunity to "settle down" in Busan and strive to attract more than 1.5 million Chinese tourists to Busan, increase the number of franchise stores to 50,000, and stimulate consumption of 300 billion won.

In addition, Busan has increased its promotional efforts to attract Chinese tourists. Survey data shows that 939,980 Chinese tourists visited Busan last year, and 226,930 in the first half of this year.

People who want to go will still go.
