It used to be Huaibei Lilou Technical School, but now it has been changed to Huaibei Vocational and Technical College. It was a public full-time general college approved by the Ministry of Education in July 1999 to recruit students nationwide. It was among the first batch of Anhui Province approved by the Ministry of Education.
One of the four higher vocational colleges, it was established by the merger of the former Huaibei Mining Bureau Staff University, Huaibei Education College, and Huaibei Radio and Television University. In July 2002, Anhui Huaibei Finance School was merged into our college.
In 2002 and 2003, it was established as a national-level demonstration vocational and technical college construction unit with key financial support from the central government by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education respectively.
At present, it mainly provides higher vocational and technical education, and also carries out adult higher education, modern distance higher education and job training.

The senior nursing major has been designated as a national-level training base for in-demand talents, the construction technology major has been designated as a national-level training base for in-demand talents by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, and the civil engineering major of the Department of Architectural Engineering has been designated as a provincial-level training base for in-demand talents.
