Its purpose is "to develop college basketball and cultivate basketball talents". The model is based on the NCAA college basketball league in the United States, and some important games are broadcast live every year by CCTV5. The league began to brew in 1996, established its articles of association in 197, and officially launched in 1998, with men's and women's groups. CUBA's influence is second only to CBA, the Chinese men's basketball professional league.
