Where is Mount Emei?

located in the southwest of Sichuan basin, in the territory of Emei Mountain, it includes four mountains: Da 'e, Er 'e, San 'e and Si 'e.

Emei Mountain

One of the highest tourist mountains in China, the main peak, the Wanfo Peak, is 3,79.3 meters above sea level, more than double that of Mount Tai. The whole mountain is majestic, with lush trees and beautiful colors like the sea, so it is called "Xiongxiu". Because the mountain is huge and the climbing route is nearly a hundred miles, it is difficult for the infirm to climb to the top. In recent years, a climbing cableway has been built, and visitors can easily board and overlook the sea of clouds in Wan Li from the top. Emei is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China. It is located in the southwest of Sichuan Basin and within the territory of Emei Mountain, including four mountains: Da 'e, Er 'e, San 'e and Si 'e. The two mountains, Da 'e and Er 'e, face each other, looking at Emei Mountain from a distance, and the two peaks are as ethereal as thrushes. Its precipitous and majestic momentum made Li Bai, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, praise "Emei is higher than the western polar sky" and "There are many fairy mountains in Shu, but Emei is difficult to beat". Mount Emei is famous for its fog, which is full of fog all the year round and raining. The clouds that pervade the mountains are changeable and make Emei Mountain graceful.

Emei Mountain is higher than the Five Mountains, showing the best in the world, with majestic mountains, beautiful scenery and colorful weather. Known as "one mountain has four seasons, and ten miles is different from the sky". Tan Zhongyue, a poet in the Qing Dynasty, summarized the beautiful scenery of Mount Emei as ten scenes: golden dome with auspicious light, moonlight like a pond, nine old immortals, rain like a rainbow, autumn wind with white water, clear sound in Shuangqiao, snow in Daping, verdant rocks, clear clouds in Luo Feng and late planting of sacred crops. Nowadays, people have continuously discovered and created many new landscapes, such as the green with red beads, the listening springs with tiger streams, the plank road in Longjiang, the Longmen Waterfall, the smoke clouds in Leidong, the flying rainbow, the floating boat and the quiet forest of fir trees, all of which are fascinating. Entering the mountains, the mountains are stacked and the ancient trees are towering. The peak turns, and the cloud breaks the bridge. Deep streams and deep valleys, the sky is shining. Thousands of valleys are flowing and the sound of water is gurgling. Fairy birds sing and colorful butterflies dance; Monkeys play, frogs play, exotic flowers pave the way, and there are holes in the sky. In spring, everything is sprouting and lush; In summer, hundreds of flowers are blooming and colorful; Autumn leaves are full of mountains and colorful; Winter is covered with white snow. Climbing the Jinding, you can see from afar, with a wide field of vision and magnificent scenery. Watching the sunrise, the sea of clouds, the Buddha's light and the sunset glow makes you relaxed and happy; West overlooking the snowy peaks, Gongga Mountain and Wawu Mountain, the mountains are connected with the sky; Looking at the top of the Buddha in the south, the clouds are rolling and the momentum is magnificent; A bird's-eye view of a hundred miles of Pingchuan in the north is like a splendid shop, with a panoramic view of Dadu River and Qingyi River. Being at the top of Emei, I really feel "the other mountains all appear dwarfs under the sky.".

One of the four famous Buddhist mountains

Four famous Buddhist mountains in China: Wutai Mountain in Shanxi, Emei Mountain in Sichuan, Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang and Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui.

(1) Wutai Mountain in Shanxi, the earliest temple building and known as the "roof of North China", is the Manjusri Bodhisattva Dojo.

(2) Putuo Mountain, a "sea-sky Buddhist country" hanging alone in the clear sea and waves, is the Dojo of Guanyin Bodhisattva, who is merciful and merciful.

(3) Located in Sichuan Basin for hundreds of miles, Emei Mountain is the Dojo of Bodhisattva Bodhisattva.

(4) Jiuhua Mountain, which claims to have 48 temples in the mountain, is the Dojo of the great wish bodhisattva Dizang Wang, who said, "If I don't go to hell, I will go to hell" and "If hell is not empty, I will not become a Buddha".

There are dozens of small Buddhist temples on the mountain, and there are many exquisite Buddhist relics in the temple. Many old people who deeply believe in Buddhism took pains to go to the top of the mountain step by step. After ten days, the scene was very touching. There are abundant animal and plant resources on the mountain. Many wild macaques haunt the roadside from time to time, stopping tourists from asking for food and adding a lot of fun to tourists. In Jinding, you can enjoy the sunrise, the sea of clouds, the Buddha's light and the holy lamp.

Emei Mountain is rich in vegetation, which changes with the height of the terrain. According to statistics, there are more than 3,7 species of plants. In the high mountains and dense forests, there are many kinds of animals, among which monkeys are the most interesting. They often haunt forest paths and temple cloisters, begging for food and playing with tourists, and are called "monkey laymen".

Emei Mountain's beautiful natural landscape and good ecological environment make it an ideal place for people to explore the wonders and seek immortality. According to legend, in the Eastern Han Dynasty, there were Taoist temples in the mountains. Buddhism spread to the mountains in the early Jin Dynasty. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, the two religions coexisted, and the temples and palaces were greatly developed. During the Ming Dynasty, Taoism declined and Buddhism flourished. At one time, there were as many as 1,7 monks, and there were nearly 1 large and small temples in the whole mountain.

Records

Records of Mount Emei and other materials record such a legendary story: In the sixth year of Yongping, Emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty (63 years), "On June 1st, there was a Pu Gong who collected herbs in Yunwo and saw a deer trace like a lotus, which was different from others, but he couldn't chase it to the top". Because I turned around and asked the Baozhang monk who was practicing Mao in the mountains. The monk said that Samantabhadra Bodhisattva "appeared in Emei Mountain according to his wishes". When Pugong returned home, he built his house as a temple, so Emei Mountain developed into the Dojo of Samantabhadra. According to another source, when Pu Gong of the Jin Dynasty was collecting herbs on the mountain, he saw an old man riding a white elephant to hide. The subsequent records are basically the same. Based on this legend alone, Pu Xian was the center when temples were built in the later dynasties. It is recognized that Mount Emei is the Dojo of Bodhisattva, and it has developed into one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China.

Baoguo Temple is the gateway of Emei Mountain, with its back against the majestic Guangming Mountain and its face facing the beautiful phoenix bag. Formerly known as Huizong Hall, it was built in the 43rd year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty (1615) and was destroyed by fire at the end of Ming Dynasty. In the 11th year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty (1654), the Zen master in Wen Da was rebuilt, and Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty named the Baoguo Temple. After two expansions in Jiaqing and Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, it became a grand temple with four palaces and pavilions.

Fuhu Temple is very close to Baoguo Temple. It was built in the Tang Dynasty, and was originally named Shenlong Hall. Later, there were mountains behind the temple, and it crouched like a tiger, so it was renamed Fuhu Temple. The temple was destroyed by fire in the late Ming Dynasty and expanded in the early Qing Dynasty. It took 2 years to build a 13-fold Chonglong Temple, and the Cenlou was restored to the pavilion, with profound twists and turns.

Shengshui Pavillion area is the place where religious scenic spots gather. Chunyang Hall was built in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, and there is a Samantabhadra stone not far in front of the hall, which is said to be a resting place for Pu Xian's mountaineering. Nearby, the Thousand-Man Cave is the seventh cave relic of Taoist Lingxu, and the cross cave was handed down as Lv Chunyang's sword.

Mount Emei is 7-3 meters above sea level, with Heilongjiang and Bailong rivers interspersed among it, and the river bed has a large drop, which constitutes numerous flowing springs, waterfalls and canyon cliffs. In the areas of Xianfeng Temple, Hongchunping and Qingyinge, the height difference between peaks and valleys is more than seven or eight hundred meters.

Qingyin Pavilion looms under Niuxinling, left Heilongjiang, right Bailong River, and the two waters embrace each other. There is a black boulder in the canyon at the confluence, which is called Niuxinling Stone. "Black-and-white washed beef heart" has become a famous scene in Emei Mountain.

Qingyin Pavilion was founded by the Buddhist monk Huitong in the 4th year of Tang Xizong Ganfu (877). Formerly known as Jiyun Pavilion, it was rebuilt in Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty and renamed Qingyin Pavilion. There is a row of halls dedicated to three statues of Sakyamuni, Pu Xian and Manjusri. Here, surrounded by mountains and water, with sound streams, rocks and nymphs, it is beautiful and excellent, and is known as the first scenic spot in Emei Mountain.

The Heilongjiang Gorge in the west of Qingyinge, where the two sides are facing each other, is as dangerous as a knife, about 6 meters wide, and only 3 meters wide at its narrowest point. The cliff stands upright and falls straight to the bottom of the river. The situation is very dangerous.

Niuxin Temple is located at the foot of Niuxinling, with dense Chinese fir, which blocks the sun. This temple, called Yanfuyuan in ancient times, is the place where Sun Simiao, the king of medicine in Tang Dynasty, cultivated himself and made an alchemy.

Buddha's light, sea of clouds and magic lamp are the three natural wonders of Jinding in Emei. Looking out from the viewing platform of Jinding, when the white clouds are laid flat in front of the platform, the sun shines on the clouds, and bright and colorful auras can be seen. Monks call it "Buddha's Light", and it is said that it is lucky to be reflected in Buddha's Light, hence the name Jinding Xiangguang. The sea of clouds is another wonder of Jinding in Emei. Whenever the sky is clear in Wan Li, the fog rises in the deep valley and diffuses in front of the rock, which accumulates thicker and thicker, and the horizon is endless. The peaks at the top of Emei are like islands in the vast sea of clouds. If there is no wind in the air, the clouds are like mirrors, and they are silent, as if they were in Penglai fairyland. In case of wind, the sea of clouds billows, like Ma Benteng, magnificent and spectacular.

On a dark and windy night, you can sometimes see a mysterious holy lamp in the valley under the rock. In fact, the holy lamp is neither from the underworld nor from the gods, but is produced by the burning of phosphine in nature.

Emei Mountain, with its Buddhist culture and unique and charming scenery, attracts tourists from all over the world and brings people into the wonderful realm of beauty and fantasy.
