This product is the dried rhizomes of the grass plant leucaena leucocephala. It is harvested in spring and fall, washed, dried in the sun, removed the fibrous roots and membranous leaf sheaths, and bundled into small handfuls. It has the effect of cooling blood, stopping bleeding, clearing heat and inducing diuresis. It is used for blood fever, vomiting blood, epistaxis, urinary blood, fever and thirst, damp-heat jaundice, edema and urine, hot shower and astringent pain.
