Shuangyang District is located in the middle of Jilin Province and the southeast of Changchun City, with an area of 1677.42 square kilometers and a total population of 39.160,000. It is a new urban area with the widest area, the lowest population density, the best ecological environment, the richest natural resources, and the greatest development space and potential in Changchun City. It is a national-level ecological demonstration area.
According to historical records, the history of artificial breeding of sika deer in Shuangyang has been more than 300 years. The number of sika deer cultured in Shuangyang District, the output of velvet antler, the output value of deer industry and other economic indicators rank first in the same industry counties (districts) in China.
The sika deer in China can be roughly divided into six subspecies, namely, South China, Northeast Asia, Sichuan, Shanxi, Taiwan Province and Hebei, among which the wild populations of Taiwan Province, Hebei and Shanxi have disappeared.
Most sika deer raised in China are Northeast Asian species, and now there are independent sub-populations of sika deer, including Shuangyang Sika Deer, Dongfeng Sika Deer, Fusong Sika Deer (Changbai Mountain strain), Yitong Sika Deer and Longtan Mountain Sika Deer. Among them, Shuangyang sika deer has the largest number of breeding, covering all parts of the country.

Shuangyang sika deer has high velvet yield. 1985, the average yield of sawed male deer in the former Shuangyang Sanlu farm was 1050g (finished velvet), which was 1. 15 times higher than that in the early stage of breeding, 59.6% higher than that in Jilin province and more than twice as high as that in the whole country.
During the period from 1986 to 1989, the average yield of Shangsawed male deer was 1243g (finished velvet), which was 18.3% higher than that of 15000g in 1985.
Shuangyang sika deer not only has the characteristics of high quality and high yield of velvet antler, but also ranks first in the same industry in China. It is characterized by fat branches, soft texture, perfect velvet shape, bright color, sufficient blood content and high content of effective components.
