Common name: pipefish shrimp. Inhabiting in the 37 to 400 meters water depth of the sandy mud substrate of the continental shelf flat sea, usually lurking in the shallow sand on the seabed. The body is extremely flat, the back is quite smooth or a little bit with a point of depression. Length up to 19 centimeters, cephalothorax with gill ridges and neck notch deep, posterior lateral margin cleft for 7 to 8 large teeth, eye sockets are located in the anterior margin of the cephalothorax, the second antennae broadly flattened and no antennae whip, the fifth abdominal segments of the posterior edge of the central thorns, the lateral armor outward facing.
