Mi (mí) Fang (birth and death dates unknown), with the character Zifang, was a native of Qu (qú) County in East China Sea (present-day Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province). He was originally a subordinate of Tao Qian, Xuzhou's pastor, but later rejected Cao Cao's appointment with his brother Mi Zhu and joined Liu Bei. When Liu Bei claimed the title of King of Hanzhong, Mi Fang was the governor of Nanxian County and was at odds with Guan Yu, the general of Jingzhou. Later, he was scolded by Guan Yu for failing to fulfill the task of supplying military funds. Uneasy in his mind, he was lured by Sun Quan to surrender to Wu together with General Fu Shiren, which led to Guan Yu's defeat and murder. Afterwards, he served as a general in Wu, and conquered for Wu.

Mifang, Zifang, a native of Qu County, East China Sea (present-day Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province), was a merchant for many generations, with tens of thousands of servants in his family, and an extremely rich property. At first, he followed his elder brother, Mi Zhu, to follow Tao Qian, the pastor of Xuzhou. In 195 A.D. (the second year of Xingping), Tao Qian died of illness, and Mi Fang followed Liu Bei with his elder brother. In 196 A.D. (the first year of Jian'an), when Liu Bei's army was defeated by Cao Cao, Mi Fang was recommended by Cao Cao to be the minister of Pengcheng, but he did not accept it and continued to follow Liu Bei.

When Guan Yu was defending Jingzhou, Mifang was the governor of the southern county of Jiangling, while Shiren was in public security, and the two of them always resented Guan Yu for belittling them.

In 219 A.D. (Jian'an 24), Guan Yu's northern expedition to Xiangfan ordered the two men to supply the army, but they failed to complete the task, so Guan Yu let out a message: "Come back to clean up your mess." Guan Yu said, "I will deal with you when I come back." Both of them were afraid and uneasy. In the same year, Wu general Lu Meng attacked Jingzhou, and Shiren opened the city to surrender. Mi Fang started to hold out, but after seeing Shiren's surrender, he also opened his city and surrendered, a move that eventually led to Guan Yu's defeat and murder. His brother, Mi Zhu, died of shame and illness.

Mifang's surrender was also despised by the people of Wu. Once, Mifang traveled by boat, encountered Yu翻's boat, Mifang boat people want Yu翻 to get out of the way, shouted forward: "Avoid our general's boat!" Yu翻 said sternly, "Who is he who loses his loyalty to serve his sovereign? Is it permissible to make a man lose two cities and yet call him a general?" Mi Fang was very ashamed and closed the window of the ship to let Yu翻 pass first.

Later, when Yu翻 traveled by car and passed by Mi Fang's camp, the officials did not open the door, and Yu翻's car and horse could not pass through. Yu turned very angry, said: "should be opened closed, should be closed open, which is how to do things?" When Mi Fang heard this, he was even more annoyed.

In 223 A.D. (the second year of Huangwu) , Sun Quan ordered He Qi to raid Herb Spring, and Mi Fang and others followed, eventually winning.

Yu翻："How can I serve my king if I lose my loyalty and trust? If you are a general, can you call yourself a general?"

Yang Zhao: "In the old days, when I was a minister, I was forced to come to the court, and I had no respect for the emperor, and I did not care about the virtue of the emperor. There is not much to do to save, times into the run north, cut himself off from the people, for the laugh of the two countries."

In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Mi Fang's image is similar to that of the original history, only the ending is different. Initially, he served with his elder brother, Mi Zhu, in Xuzhou's pastor Tao Qian, who died, and Liu Bei led Xuzhou. Mi Fang and Mi Zhu followed Liu Bei. During the battle of Chang Ban Po, Mi Fang was seriously injured and mistakenly thought that Zhao Yun had defected to Wei and told Liu Bei about it. When Yizhou was pacified, Mi Fang became the governor of Nanxian County and worked with Guan Yu. Guan Yu angrily rebuked Mi Fang for drinking with Fu Shiren and losing fire. Later, fearing Guan Yu, he defected to Wu, leading to Guan Yu's defeat. Liu Bei attacked Wu, the two killed Ma Zhong once again cast Shu, Liu Bei angrily ordered Guan Xing stripped two people clothes, ordered to personally kill with a knife, in order to pay tribute to Guan Yu.
