Tremella is generally chrysanthemum-shaped or cockscomb-shaped, with a diameter of 5- 10 cm, soft, white, translucent and elastic. Tremella, as a traditional edible fungus in China, has always been a favorite food of the broad masses of people. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, tremella with good natural appearance has always been a good product for emperors and dignitaries to keep healthy and live longer.
Distribution area: Wild tremella is mainly distributed in subtropical zone, frigid zone, temperate zone and tropical zone. According to domestic statistics, wild tremella is mainly distributed in mountainous areas of Sichuan, Yunnan, Fujian, Guizhou, Anhui, Hunan, Guangxi, Taiwan Province and other provinces and cities. Among them, Tongjiang Tremella is the most famous.
There are few wild tremella, which was a precious tonic in ancient times. Tremella cultivation originated in Tongjiang, Sichuan. According to records, Tongjiang Tremella had been artificially cultivated on a large scale for at least four years in Tongzhi (1865) in Qing Dynasty. Gutian county is the birthplace and main producing area of bagged tremella in China, the origin of Gutian tremella and the largest commercial production base of tremella in China.
