Undaria pinnatifida belongs to the brown algae, brown algae, kelp order, wing algae, wakame genus. Wakame is a seaweed plant, 1 year old, yellow-brown color, 1 ~ 2 meters high, 50 ~ 100 mm wide, leaf margins are pinnate lobes, leaf blade is thinner than the kelp, the shape of the banana leaf fan, also like the kelp, so it takes its name. Undaria pinnatifida is a temperate seaweed that can tolerate high water temperatures. The natural growth of undaria pinnatifida in China is mainly distributed in Zhoushan Islands and Shengsi Islands in Zhejiang Province. Nowadays, wakame is also found in Qingdao and Dalian. It is a large perennial brown algae. Algae body brown, soft leathery, 1~2 meters long, 50~100 mm wide, the overall outline is lanceolate, the center has obvious raised main ribs, the two sides are thinner, often forming a majority of pinnate lobes, the edge of the lobes have a lack of cleavage, sometimes not split, the overall densely mucous glands. Root-like fixator fibrous, composed of and like divergent pseudoroots, pseudoroots end with sucking disk. Short stalk, nearly flat cylindrical, spring and summer on both sides of the stalk bearing fungus-like, thick and rich in gelatinous overlapping folds (commonly known as skirt fungus), containing sporocarp groups.
