Know when to harvest and what to harvest.

Correct selection of harvesting parts. Look for long green hollow leaves. They look like grass, but they are actually leaves. This is the part you want to use as an ingredient. [ 1]
The flowers of leek can also be eaten, but the taste is different from that of leek. This part is best used as a decoration for salad or soup.

Know when to start harvesting leeks. When the leaves are big enough to be cut down for use, harvest begins. [2]

Plant several leeks at the same time. This contributes to the harvest. If you only plant one plant, you may cut off the leaves before they have a chance to grow again at harvest time. If you have several plants, you can cut off the leaves of one plant, and then cut off the others to give it enough time to grow leaves again.
Harvest leeks.

Roll the leaves into a bundle. Cut off the leaves with clean and sharp scissors. Don't cut it too close to the bulb below, or it will be difficult to grow leaves in the future. There should be leaves about 1.3cm long from the ground on the bulb. [3]
Start harvesting from the outside of the bundle. Sharp scissors are the best because they don't cut plants like blunt scissors.

Leek can be used directly or stored. If you want to store it, put the chopped leek in a sealed plastic bag and keep it in the refrigerator for up to a week. It can also be frozen in ice, or quickly freeze-dried. [4]
Another good way to preserve it is to make chive vinegar.

Use leeks as ingredients. You can mix the salad with leeks. It is also a good top decoration for baked potatoes. The uses of leeks are really varied!
It is recommended to change the land and reinstall it after two years. When planting leeks again, 8- 10 plants are planted together.
Chives can usually grow to a height of 20 cm.
If you want to make a salad with flowers, don't pick them before they bloom.
In autumn, leeks are put in jars for winter consumption.
