Pomegranate edible varieties can be classified according to the flavor of the juice, peel and seed color. For example, according to the flavor can be divided into sweet, sour varieties, according to the color is divided into red, white and other varieties.

2. hillside soft seed
Shandong Zaozhuang hillside good seed. Fruit nearly spherical, average single fruit weight 360g, the largest fruit weight 650g; calyx tube semi-open; fruit surface smooth, bottom color yellow-green, sunny side with red halo; kernel bright red, 100 grains weight 40~61g; sweet taste. Excellent quality. Local mid-September maturity. Tree strength medium, adaptable, less stem thorns.
3. Xinjiang Dazi
Xinjiang Yecheng, Shushu area excellent varieties of fruit large, spherical, the average single fruit weight 450g, the largest fruit weight 1000g; fruit surface smooth, bright red; calyx tube long, sepals upright or closed; large, bright red, 100 grains of heavy juice and slag less, sweet; containing soluble solids 15%. The quality is excellent. In the Lintong area sprouting in early April, ripening in mid to late September.
4. glutinous pomegranate
Yunnan Qiaojia, Huize excellent varieties. Fruit nearly spherical, the average single fruit weight 360g, the largest fruit weight 900g; fruit surface smooth with bright red halo; calyx tube erect, sepals closed; kernels large, pink, an average of one hundred grains weighing 77g; juicy and sweet, containing soluble solids 14% ~ 15%. The quality is excellent. Local flowering from mid-March to mid-April, ripening in mid-August.
5. Fire robe
Yunnan Province, Huize excellent varieties. Fruit larger, nearly spherical, average single fruit weight 430g, the largest fruit weight 650g; thicker skin, smooth fruit surface, bottom yellow-white, sunny bright red; seed fat, deep red, average 100 grains weight 67g; kernel is softer edible; juicy sweet; contains soluble solids local ripening in mid to late August, Shaanxi Lintong production area in mid to late September ripening. Tree strength is strong, tree posture embracing, natural opening after fruiting.
6. Imperial pomegranate
Shanxi liquan, qianxian area of good seed (Figure 2). Because of the Tang Taizong and the Empress Changsun liked to eat and got this name. Fruit is very large, spherical, average single fruit weight 750g, the largest fruit weight 1500g; thicker skin, fruit surface is smooth, rich red; calyx tube thick straight, sepals embrace; kernels are larger, 100 grains weighing 30g or so, bright red; taste sour and slightly sweet. Quality in the upper. Mature in early October locally. The tree is strong and healthy, with an upright posture, a semicircular crown, and many tumor-like protuberances on the main trunk and main branches.

7. Yushizi
Anhui Huaiyuan production area good seed. The fruit is larger, rounded globose, with obvious ribs, the average single fruit weight of 250g; the skin is thin, the fruit surface is glossy, the bottom color is yellowish-white, and the sunny side is pink; the kernel is large, the weight of one hundred kernels is 60g, greenish-white, the kernel is soft and edible; the juicy taste is sweet. Local ripe in early to mid-September. Easy to crack the fruit, intolerant of storage. The tree is weak, open posture.
8. agate son
Anhui Huaiyuan production area good seed. The fruit is larger, more oblique, the bottom of the fruit protrudes obviously, there are ribs, the average single fruit weight 250g, the largest fruit weight 520g; thin skin, the fruit surface is smooth orange-yellow, sunny side of the reddish halo; kernel is large, 100 grains of weight 60 ~ 71g, light red, the core is soft edible, juicy and sweet; containing soluble solids 15% ~ 17%. Local late September to early October maturity. Easily cracked fruit is not resistant to storage. Tree strength moderate, stem spines less.
9. Net skin sweet
Also known as pink skin sweet, Shaanxi Lintong main plant species. The fruit is medium-large, globose, with an average single fruit weight of 250g and a maximum fruit weight of 705g; the skin is thin, and the fruit surface is glossy, yellowish-white with pink to bright red coloring; the calyx tube is upright and open or slightly embraced; the kernels are larger, weighing 36g, pink, juicy and sweet; the content of soluble solids is 14%~16%. Excellent quality. Local ripening in early to mid-September. Fruit cracking easily before picking rainy. The tree is strong and healthy, the crown is open, the branches are thick and sturdy, and the stems have sparse thorns.
10. day red egg
Also known as small-leaf pomegranate, Shaanxi Lintong main plant varieties. Fruit medium-large, oblate spherical, average single fruit weight 280g, the largest fruit weight 575g; thick skin, smooth fruit surface, rich red; calyx tube thick and short, sepals reflexed; grain smaller, 100 grains weight 30g, bright red, hard core; more juice, sweet taste. Local late September maturity. The tree is stronger, the crown is smaller, the branches are thicker, light yellow-brown, short internodes, dense and hard stem thorns.
11. Late Xiahong
Also known as red Luyu, Shaanxi Lintong late maturing species. Fruit globular, average single fruit weight 300g, the largest fruit weight 620g; pericarp thicker, smooth, anodized bright red color; sepals upright closed; larger kernels, 100 grains weighing 32g, bright red, the core is softer; sweet taste; containing soluble solids 14%~15%. Fruit cracking light, resistant to storage. The local early October maturity, is to replace the bottom color of the peel yellow-green varieties Lu Yu egg ideal late-maturing varieties. The tree is weaker, with a smaller crown, thicker branches and more stem thorns.
12. Big Red Sweet
Also known as Big Red Robe, Big Leaf Sky Red Egg, Shaanxi Lintong famous variety. The fruit is large, globose, the average single fruit weight 300g, the largest fruit weight 750g; thicker skin, rich red; sepals upright open; large kernels, 100 grains weighing 37g, bright red; juicy flavor sweet, containing soluble solids 15% ~ 17%. Excellent quality. Local ripening in mid to late September. The tree is strong, with an open crown, stout branches, gray-brown, sparse stem thorns, and thick red shoot tips.
13. big red acid
Also known as big leaf acid pomegranate, Shaanxi Lintong production area famous varieties (Figure 3). The fruit is very large, spherical, with an average single fruit weight of 450g, and the largest fruit weight of 1250g; thick skin, glossy fruit surface, yellowish-white bottom color, and bright red when fully ripe, which is extremely beautiful; the calyx tube is thick and short, and the sepals are fully embraced; the average weight of the 100 grains of the kernel is 37g, and it is intensely red; it is juicy, with a strong and acidic flavor; it has an acid content of 2.73%, and the soluble solids are 12%~13%. Fruit cracking light, more resistant to storage. Local sprouting in early April, flowering in May~June, ripening in mid to late September. The tree is robust, with a slightly upright posture, often with tumor-like protrusions on the main trunk and large branches, and thicker, greenish-grayish-brown branches, with more stem thorns.

In 1987, Shandong Zaozhuang City, Shandong Yicheng fruit tree resources survey found. Fruit larger, nearly spherical, average single fruit weight 350g, the largest fruit weight 720g; calyx tube is shorter, closed or semi-open; pericarp is thicker, the fruit is pink to bright red; kernel bright red, the average weight of one hundred kernels 58g, the heaviest 62g, the core of the softer edible; containing soluble solids 15%. Quality is excellent. Abundant and stable yield. Local ripening in mid to late September, not resistant to storage. The tree is smaller, weaker, with an open crown, sparse stem thorns, and many normal flowers.
