Suzhou's local specialties include Sweet and Sour Mandarin Fish, Lobby Shrimp, Pufei Soup, Braised Eel Paste, Sauced Chicken, Duck in Tank Car, Cherry Meat, Suzhou Roast Duck, Fried Shrimp, etc. Suzhou, referred to as "Su" for short, was called Gusu and Pingjiang in ancient times. It is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province and one of the important central cities in the Yangtze River Delta determined by the State Council.

Suzhou is located in the east of China, the southeast of Jiangsu and the middle of the Yangtze River Delta. It is an important part of the Yangtze River urban agglomeration, bordering Shanghai in the east, Zhejiang in the south, Taihu Lake in the west and the Yangtze River in the north.

Suzhou is one of the first national historical and cultural cities with a history of nearly 2,500 years. It is an important birthplace of Wu culture and has the reputation of "paradise on earth".
