Taking a frog as an example, insert the hook from its back, let the hook tip fall into the frog's mouth, and then tie the frog's two hind legs to the hook handle to make a jumping shape. After the snakehead swallows the hook, it will spit out a string of fish stars. Do not lift the rod at this time until it spits out the second string of fish stars. Snakehead fish are cruel in nature and will not relax easily when catching food. Even if they cannot swallow it, they will not spit out the hook. The direction of lifting the pole should be opposite to the direction of swimming of the snakehead fish, so that it is not easy to get off the hook. There are few frogs in early spring, so snail meat and small fish can also be used as bait.

2. Fishing nest

This method is often used to catch snakeheaded fish in summer. Because from late April to mid-August, it is the mating and spawning period of snakeheaded fish. Snakeheaded fish will choose waters overgrown with weeds, bite off the tips of the grass, and sweep the broken grass away with their tails to form a bright water hole - a fish nest. Based on the size of the nest, people can judge the size and specifications of the spawning parent fish. Generally, a nest the size of a washbasin weighs about 1.5 to 2.5 grams per egg, and a nest as big as a bowl weighs about 1 kilogram. The eggs produced are golden in the sunlight, and 3 to 5 days after they are laid, the color of the hatching eggs turns black. The newly hatched fish are golden, and soon turn yellow. During the period when the male and female parent fish are protecting their eggs, fishermen can take the initiative to hook the bait to the edge of the nest and gently shake it continuously. At this time, the parent fish waiting on the side, with the male fish first and the female fish behind, think that the enemy is coming. Then he bit the hook and bait and didn't let go. At this time, you should make a quick decision and pull the hook out of the water at one time. In another half hour to two hours, if you set the hook again at the same place, you can catch another parent fish.

After the young fish hatch, the black queen will be more serious about protecting the young. To do this, the bait hook can be shaken continuously on the nest. The black fish parent fish will quickly take the bait. After catching one tail, the hook will be set again. Another fish was quickly caught. After the juvenile fish get a little older, their range of activities becomes larger, and they move in groups on the water surface under the leadership of their parent fish. This is also a good opportunity for fishing, but fishermen should hide well before approaching: cut off the juvenile fish's path first. (Use bait to approach the young fish from far to near). At this time, the parent fish will bite the hook angrily. When small fish are in groups, you can also use bait to beat the small fish groups vigorously, so that you can also catch the parent fish. Therefore, fishing for snakeheaded fish is called "dun snakeheaded fish" in some places. After catching a big fish, the young fish will circle around in circles, and the other parent fish is also eager to find a mate, so if you set the hook after a while, the other parent fish will also be caught away.

3. Fishing for dark fish

In order to survive the winter, snakeheaded fish have a strong appetite in autumn. In addition, the autumn air is crisp and clear, so autumn is also a good season for fishing snakeheaded fish. At this time, snakeheaded fish usually hide in weeds in the morning and evening. Liangshui Cave is in shallow water, and then goes to deep water at noon.

Fishermen can shake the bait hook continuously on the surface of the bright water hole.
