Selling Tangyuan is an Taiwan Province folk song written by Chen Dieyi and Yao Min, outstanding songwriters in China in the 20th century, and first sung by Fang Jingyin. It is an episode of the movie Peach Blossom Village. Fang Jingyin, whose real name is Wang Xiamin, is from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. He was very interested in singing at an early age.
At the end of 1940s, I came to settle in Hong Kong with my family. At first, I worked in a northern restaurant. Later, due to the heavy family burden, I had to switch to a nightclub to dance. During this period, I began to learn to sing with famous teachers because of the recommendation of someone with a clear voice. Because of my intelligence and strong understanding, I soon took the stage in Champagne House and Xinya Restaurant and became a red singer.
1952 began to record records for EMI, and was invited to sing in nightclubs in Hong Kong and Singapore, and made a guest appearance on the album taohuajiang, and sang the song "Acacia Four Seasons" in the film "Ferry between Hong Kong and Macao" filmed by the British company Ranke.
Social evaluation:
Compared with singers of the same period, Fang Jingyin is a typical singer who gradually became popular with strength and hard work. Her beautiful appearance, exquisite singing skills and wonderful stage performances, although many songs are covers of other people's works, can also show her own style. In addition to recording records and singing behind the scenes for movies, Fang Jingyin still focuses on singing in nightclubs.
Fang Jingyin's songs partly contain the traditional folk customs of China, and are very trendy in foreign schools, with extremely high sound plasticity. They are also somewhat similar to Zhang Lu, the queen of China songs, so they are called "Xiao Zhang Lu". His famous works include: Dragon Lantern and Kite, The Lover, Yaya, Banana Boat, Selling Tangyuan, and Sending Lovers.
