Raising Green Iguanas —— Ten Points for Attention for Beginners on the Road

The following are some problems that I have summarized about green iguanas not being able to get started on the road, especially for newcomers!

First, buy

It is more suitable for beginners to choose larvae over 30 cm, and larvae that are too small are easy to die. Novices should especially avoid rescuing unhealthy or disabled larvae in JS's hands because of temporary sympathy. On the one hand, novices themselves have no therapeutic ability; On the other hand, if you don't want to keep a green raccoon, but buy it out of sympathy, you may cause yourself a burden in the future.

Second, the feeding box

Novices should avoid using glass boxes for breeding, because such boxes have poor thermal insulation in winter and will only cause electricity consumption. The most convenient choice is to buy a ready-made professional climbing box, which is more practical if it is a second-hand box sold by players. The so-called feeding box of acrylic products, like the glass box, is beneficial to beautify the environment and has decorative effect, but it is not practical.

Third, equipment.

Novices can't figure out what UVA, UVB and UVC mean when they are on the road.

Just remember the main points:

1. Anything hot can be used as UVA. UVA lamps, such as heating lamps for reptiles, bubble lamps for non-reptiles and ceramic heating lamps, all have their own advantages and disadvantages, mainly depending on the owner's preferences.

2.UVB lamp is essential for raising green raccoons, which is expensive and has many fakes. There is no substitute for UVB lamp, and there is no reliable UVB lamp suitable for reptiles in the lamp market. I have taken photos of UVB tubes and cathode fluorescent lamp, so I naturally know how to distinguish the true and false UVB tubes by comparing the photos.

3.UVC is mainly used for medical sterilization, unless you use it to sterilize boxes, you don't need this kind of lamp.

Fourth, don't eat

The new green raccoon may not eat. Under the premise of buying healthy individuals, the breeder should think more about whether you have been disturbing it. Are you nervous about the environment? Is the ambient temperature above 28 degrees? Is the humidity at least 50? Is this dish to his taste? Instead of guessing whether it is sick or not, there are no parasites in it!

Verb (abbreviation of verb) feed

Most young raccoons are picky eaters, and their food intake is small, which is beneficial for young owners to prepare feed, adjust their taste, balance nutrition and grow healthily, but remember not to buy expired feed as a staple food! It is recommended to buy brand feeds, such as Corydalis, ZOOLIFE and Zoom. Cheap alfalfa for rabbits can also be bought in the flower and bird market.

Six, supplements

Most people in China have a common problem in raising green raccoons: taking calcium powder and vitamins as food! I have made a special post about the harm of over-supplementing the two, so I won't go into details here. Remember the main point: providing richer recipes is healthier than supplementing anything! We are not old people, nor are we raising patients!

Seven, drug therapy

Everyone treats pets as treasures, so the baby made a little mistake and was anxious to think about the medicine. What I want to remind you is that we keep reptiles, which have strong adaptability. Don't take medicine for some minor illnesses! Random medication is potentially dangerous!

Eight, bite, scratch

Green raccoons carry salmonella, which is completely harmless to healthy people. After bleeding, it is safe enough to rinse it with antiseptic soap (such as Shufujia) for 5 times in a row. You don't need to go to any hospital or have an injection! No matter how serious it is, you will be fine if you pull down your stomach at most!

Nine, domestication

Reptiles are cold-blooded by nature. They will remember your touch and your actions, but they are not cats and dogs, so don't expect too much from them. Make basic psychological preparations, then you won't feel depressed because of domestication failure on the day it bites you, because these are all reasonable things.

Remarks: insect feeding problem

Whether to feed or not depends on your attitude, not whether to feed or not and how much to feed. This question is not worth discussing!
