China on the Tip of the Tongue is a food documentary broadcast by China Central Television (CCTV), which focuses on the ecology of food across China. Through many aspects of Chinese cuisine, it shows the culture of rituals and ethics that food brings to Chinese people's lives; meets the characteristic Chinese ingredients and a series of food-related elements that constitute the unique temperament of Chinese cuisine; and understands the delicacy and long history of Chinese food culture. The film is well-produced, with seven episodes taking 13 months to produce. After its premiere on CCTV in May 2012, the film attracted widespread attention on the Internet. It was broadcast in July 2012 on Taiwan's PBS, in September 2012 on Singapore's Star and Metro, and from October 2012 on Hong Kong's TVB Jade. The second season has been confirmed for an April 18, 2014 broadcast. The large-scale filming of "The Tip of the Tongue in China" began in March 2011 and took 13 months to complete, making it the first large-scale food documentary to be filmed using high-definition equipment in China. The crew traveled to 70 filming locations across the country, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and used three pre-production researchers, eight directors, 15 cameramen to film and three editors to complete the editing. The Tip of the Tongue series includes Tip of the Tongue China 1, Tip of the Tongue China 2 and Tip of the Tongue China 3. The movie version of "New Year on the Tip of the Tongue" will be released on January 7, 2016, created by the original cast of "Tongue on China".
