Butler's original works are mainly juvenile novels, of which the "Boys and Girls Series" is even more popular among young readers in Taiwan. Butler believes that when everyone goes through puberty, there is a stage where they feel confused and have a lot of thoughts and mindsets. Only by understanding and respecting them can a writer become a friend to teenagers. Therefore, in her novels, readers can feel that the author has given the highest sympathy and care to the teenagers who are struggling on the edge of growth with true feelings. There is not a single word of dogmatic criticism in the book, nor is there a trace of false sentiment, but there is a heart of understanding and respect for the teenagers. Her juvenile novels such as "The Temptation of Pearl Milk Tea" and "True Love Apple Pie" are filled with adolescent thoughts and turmoil, fantasies and perplexities, passions and helplessness, loss and growth, in which the privacy and sweet sorrows of youth are interpreted in such a wonderful and touching way, letting juvenile readers experience the "taste of growing up" from them. Her works are simple and fresh, chic and humorous, and close to the hearts of young readers nowadays. As a result, Butterfly has become the idol of Taiwan's new generation of young readers, and was the first writer in Taiwan's young adult literature industry to set up a personal Web site; in 2002, the number of Web readers had reached more than 130,000 people.

It is reported that Butler Qi's works have won Taiwan's Golden Tripod Award, the Chinese Children's Literature Award, the Best Children's Book Award at the Frankfurt Book Fair, and the Hong Kong Book Fair's Top 100 Best Books Award.
