Aquatic plantain:
Aquatic plantain is a large herbaceous perennial plant, 1 to 2 m in height; leaves are long lanceolate, blue-green; racemes are terminal and many-flowered; stamens are petaloid; flowers are large in diameter, about 10 cm; flowers are yellow, red, or pink; flowers are produced in temperate zones from April to October, and in tropical and subtropical regions throughout the year. Flowering; above-ground parts die in winter in temperate regions, rhizomes go dormant, evergreen throughout the year in tropical and subtropical regions.
Floral plantain:
Floral plantain is a horticultural variant of plantain. It is a perennial rooted herb. Dwarf, plant height 50~80cm, underground rhizome fleshy. Leaves alternate, long elliptic lanceolate, 20~30cm long, 10~13cm wide. Leathery, golden-yellow leaf surface mingled with fine green stripes, leaf margins with red edges, entire, with distinct midrib and pinnate lateral veins, set with earthy yellow, milky yellow, greenish yellow colors. Racemes, terminal, with 2-3 branches, flowers orange-red. Terminal raceme, about 10 flowers, red, slightly smaller than the flowers of terrestrial plantain. Flowering period from July to October, the annual green period of about 240 days.
