According to legend, in the early days of liberation, probably in the 1930s, there was a man named Li Bao in Chang Di Street, Hankou, who sold bean jelly and noodle soup in Guandi Temple.

One day, it was very hot and the noodles were not sold out. Li Bao was worried that the noodles would turn sour, so he cooked the remaining noodles and put them on the chopping board. He accidentally touched the sesame oil pan and spilled oil on the noodles. Li Bao simply mixed sesame oil into noodles and then cooled them with fan strips.

The next morning, Li Bao scalded the cooked noodles mixed with sesame oil in boiling water several times (because it was cooked at night), filtered off the water, put it in a bowl, and added seasonings such as chopped green onion. Suddenly, the smell was fragrant, and people rushed to buy it and ate it with relish.

Someone asked what noodles Bao Li was selling, and Li Bao casually said "Regan Noodles". Since then, it has gradually spread and become an indispensable food for Wuhan people to "get old before they get old".
